Value Engineering is one of the core benefits JD2 provides. We have cross-trained our structural engineers with estimating skills to optimize the value of the building structure in the pre-construction phase. It is unique to have staff that provides both code compliant structural design and understands the associated fabrication and erection costs.
Common VE examples include adjusting framing layouts, simplifying connections, using more cost efficient building materials, removing unnecessary plates and welds, and modifying details for constructability.
Although the primary focus is reducing costs, ensuring a building that is safe for both the construction workers and the building's future occupants is never sacrificed.
