CEO & President
After graduating from the University of Maine in 1979 with a BS in Civil Engineering, John began his career with highly respected and innovative steel company McLean Steel in the San Francisco Bay Area. He has been involved with the estimating, detailing, design, and project management for thousands of projects throughout the United States and abroad. John has also played a major role in the development of various field breaking innovations and patented products such as Tru-Frame® and The Deck Dragin®. He enjoys all types of outdoor activities with his family on their horse ranch in the Sierra Foothills.
Ross Jeffrey has been with JD2 Inc. since 1997 and is responsible for all field and office operations. Ross started in the San Diego office as a project manager and moved his way up to general manager of Southern California operations. He ran the Southern operations for five years until he took over the COO position and moved to the Auburn office. Ross currently runs all operations for Southern and Northern California. His duties include running estimating, project management, detailing, shop fabrication, and field operations.
Prior to joining JD2, Ross worked as a project engineer and director of marketing for Northrop Grumman, where he was involved with several classified projects, including the B-2 Stealth Bomber. Ross attended Texas A & M University where he obtained a degree in Aerospace Engineering. He later returned to school and received his Master of Business Administration from the University of California at Irvine.
Ross lives in Grass Valley. He enjoys skiing, boating, mountain biking, golf, and traveling.
Todd Duke joined JD2 as chief financial officer in 2007. Todd oversees all accounting, finance, and I.T. matters. He has over seventeen years of finance and management experience and has specialized in the construction and real estate development industries during most of his career. Todd began his career as a CPA for Deloitte & Touche, where he worked for five years in the audit division as a client manager. He has held CFO, VP, and other senior management positions in finance over the years and uses this experience to help JD2 continually grow and improve. In his free time, Todd enjoys spending time outdoors and traveling with his wife and baby girls.
Senior Estimator/Senior Project Manager
Steve Knudsvig has been with JD2 since 2001. Steve manages and estimates projects; he also oversees a small group of project managers and estimators. He delegates which projects to bid and reviews bids prior to final submittal. Steve maintains the field welding procedures and helps schedule work flow. Prior to joining JD2, he worked for three different large steel fabrication shops, where he prepared estimates and managed projects.
Steve has an Associate of Applied Science in Architectural Drafting and Estimating from North Dakota State School of Science and completed UC Davis Extension’s Construction Management Certificate Program. He lives in the Sierra foothills with his wife and twin daughters. He enjoys spending time with family, playing sports, and participating in outdoor activities.
Gil Petersen, S.E.
Senior Structural Engineer
Gil is a senior structural engineer for JD2, leading in the development of special truss moment frame design for commercial, industrial, and institutional applications. He came to JD2 in 2000 after 20 years as a consulting structural engineer. Prior to joining JD2, Gil worked with The Spink Corporation, where he led the structural engineering department in commercial and industrial projects.
Gil holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil & Environmental Engineering from Utah State University. He currently resides in Colfax, CA, with his wife, Carlene. Gil enjoys spending time with family and friends.
Brad has been leading JD2’s Southern Division office located in San Dimas, as the General Manager since 2013. Brad is responsible for the overall sales and management of the Southern Division including project estimating, contract review/negotiation and approval, project scheduling and management. Brad is also responsible for the office and field operations including ordering and tracking of material, fabrication, QU and safety for the Southern Division projects
Brad has been in the structural steel trade since the mid 80’s. He started out as a welder in a shop and in a short time, became the shop superintendent, eventually becoming a detailer, purchaser, estimator and then on into project management. In addition, Brad has also worked in the field as an erector and has managed many projects as a general manager working for steel erectors.
Brad has held several certifications in his career including AWS D1.1 welding and the City of LA D1.1 & D1.4.
Brad currently lives with his wife Tammy in Redlands and enjoys scuba diving, camping, jeeping and recently has taken up golf.
Estimator & Project Manager
Steve grew up in the Midwest but relocated to Southern California in 1981. After spending 10 years in the aerospace industry, he moved to the Sacramento area in 1991. Since then he has spent eight years in steel fabrication and 13 years as a steel project manager and estimator and has been with JD2 since 2003.
Steve has three grown daughters and has been married to his wife, Angela, since 1987. He enjoys films, camping, playing golf and softball, and he loves to spend time with his family and friends.
Estimator & Project Manager
Linda moved from Arizona to the Bay Area and began working with JD2 in 1993 as an estimator, after which she progressed to project management. Prior to working with JD2, she began her career in the steel industry at Vulcraft, where she worked for five years as a joist detailer in their Phoenix sales office and concentrated on fast track projects, sales, and customer service. An industry pioneer known for bringing open web joists to the Bay Area, JD2 was a perfect fit for her.
Linda has been married to her husband, Jerry, since 1996. They have two children, a daughter and a son who keep them busy with their activities. Her free time away from work is spent enjoying her family.
Estimator & Project Manager
Mike has worked for JD2, Inc. for three years as the estimator and project manager for our Los Angeles office. He coordinates projects to bid, performs follow up, and manages projects in the Southern California area. Prior to joining JD2, Mike worked as a sales manager for the McIntyre Company for nine years. He has worked almost exclusively in the construction industry since 1979. Mike holds a bachelor’s degree from Westmont College in Santa Barbara, CA. He currently lives in San Dimas with his wife, Karen, of 29 years and his daughter, Trisha. He also has an older son who will be graduating from Cal Poly Pomona with a degree in hotel management. When he’s not spending time with his friends and family, Mike enjoys playing golf and racquetball.
P.E., Design Engineer
Jeff is a design engineer for JD2 and is primarily engaged in the development and design of structures that utilize code-prescribed STMF design. Part of JD2 since 1998, Jeff has been involved in the design of hundreds of projects utilizing STMF (aka Tru-Frame®) design. Prior to coming to JD2, he worked for the Nucor Corporation at the Vulcraft facility in Utah detailing, checking, and developing software. Jeff has developed and managed various engineering and CAD applications for JD2, including JD2CAD, an automated steel joist detailing program. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering from Utah State University and associate’s degrees in Design & Drafting and Engineering Technology from BYU-I. He currently resides in Lincoln, CA, with his wife Gina.
